Functional nutrition goes beyond the symptoms to address the root-cause(s).
My role in functional nutrition can be broken down into 4 parts.
Teach the art of listening to one’s mind and body – listening to your body takes practice. When you are feeling a certain way, whether physical, mental, or emotional, it’s important to stop and reflect on how you are feeling and what your mind and body are trying to tell you.
Focus on the whole body, not just the symptoms – my clients, and myself of course, are more than just a list of symptoms. Think of your body as a tree. The branches are the symptoms you are experiencing, but the roots are the root-cause(s) behind your symptoms. Addressing the leaves and not the roots is simply a temporary fix. We need to go beyond the branches.
Educate on the why not just the how – it’s important for my clients to understand *why* we are doing something, whether nutrition intervention or lifestyle changes or something in-between. While it is important to understand *how* to do something, if you don’t have an explanation on *why* you are doing something, it becomes easy to cycle back into old habits or lose motivation as there is no clarity around the purpose.
Empower confidence in being your own advocate – there is nothing more empowering than being educated and knowledgeable on your own health and wellness so you can speak up when something feels off. You know your body best. My wish is for all my clients to step out in confidence instead of hiding behind fear.
If you’re ready to take your health and happiness into your own hands, I would love to help guide you on your journey. I will meet you where you are at. Send me a to get started!
