Hard Truths to Improve Mind + Body

October 26, 2021

When it comes to building the body you want, if you’re not seeing or tracking consistent progress, there are some things to consider…

⚡️Are you restricting all week to binge all weekend?

As mentioned over and over CONSISTENCY is key! Ditch the all or nothing mindset and remember that you can still eat foods you enjoy when you set your macro goals and stick to them. No foods are “bad”, your mindset toward them is. Which brings me to my next point.

⚡️Do you fear carbs and increased calories?

Carbs are your body’s main source of energy. Carbs give you fuel to perform at your best, feel like your best, protect your body from the harmful effects of stress, and enhance thyroid function.

Increased calories ensure your body is getting the fuel it needs for daily functions of living, and often the key to unlock the body you want = eating more. Carbs and more calories don’t make you fat. Over-eating and not moving enough will.

⚡️Are you constantly chasing fat loss and nothing else?

Yes, we all want to lose fat and see the number decrease on the scale, but our bodies are not meant to be dieting (in a caloric deficit) year-round. You need to cycle your deficit phases with phases of maintenance and phases of a slight surplus for muscle gain and recovery. THAT is what your body needs for a successful fat loss phase.

There are other ways to measure progress than the number on the scale. Progress photos and measurements are other great (and even better) ways to see your body change. There are 5000 reasons your weight will fluctuate but comparing progress photos and measurements is a 100% sure thing to see how far you have come.

Improving your body takes time, and it starts with improving your mindset toward the process and the time it will take to get to where you want to be.

Don’t give up because you don’t reach your end goal overnight or within a few months. Each day is an opportunity to get one step closer to where you want to be. The time will pass anyway- take action! You owe it to yourself to become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself.
